General informations

Speech technology research and development requires a special interdisciplinary attitude. The staff of the Speech Research Laboratory is skilled in psychoacoustics, linguistics, physics, mathematics and informatics, with a strong focus on engineering aspects in all fields.

Our researchers work together with researchers from leading speech laboratories through the world.

Main research fields: beside the traditional topics such as basic acoustic-phonetic research, creation of speech databases, speech-to-text conversion, emotion recognition, prosody assessment, we have a new direction of research, that is, determining the psychological and physiological condition of the human based on evaluation ofspeech related parameters. This is actually a study of speech-based diagnostic testing facilities. The laboratory also focuses on the development of voice applications for disabled, such as audiuo visual pronounciation training tools for hard of hearing persons.

Audiological cab

The laboratory provides audiological cab, which is suitable formeasuring the hearing threshold, and for recording noiseless speech and singing voices. The characteristics data of cab: details in hungarian, details in english.
